Escape the Content Hamster Wheel - Part 2, One Song = Twenty Posts

🦃my fat turkey marketing strategy

One song can feed your content calendar for weeks...

Have you ever made a giant turkey for Thanksgiving or some other holiday?

The first day is amazing. Then comes turkey sandwiches. Turkey soup. Turkey casserole. Turkey everything. By day five you're hiding from the leftovers.

That sounds like a terrible content strategy, doesn't it?

Here's the difference: your audience isn't seeing every post. You might feel like you're talking about the same song or book chapter over and over. Meanwhile, most followers only see a tiny fraction of what you publish.

That means one song can easily become 20 posts:

🎵 The story behind the song

🎵 Lyric graphics

🎵 Rehearsal clips

🎵 Live performance clips

🎵 Your inspiration

🎵 A fan reaction or two

🎵 The recording process

🎵 Favorite lines

And that's just the beginning. The mistake most creatives make is thinking they need 20 songs to make 20 posts.

Nope. You need one song and a little creativity.

Your audience isn't getting sick of the turkey because they're not eating every meal. Most of them only caught a bite or two. So stop stressing about creating endless new content. You probably already have a month's worth sitting on your hard drive right now.

One of the main mistakes I see is artist either running out of content or accidentally repeating themselves in ways that don't connect with their audience. There's a real strategy to repurposing content effectively, and a few small tweaks can make a huge difference. If you'd like to squeeze every drop of value out of your songs or books or other art, let's schedule a Success Session. I'd love to help you build a content system that keeps working long after we've finished talking. Reach out now to schedule.

Take care, and always...aspire to be better, my friend!

PS: In the next installment of Escape the Content Hamster Wheel, I'll show you how to create videos for reels or TikTok without dancing, lip-syncing, or otherwise embarrassing yourself in public😜

PPS: On a side note, many artists have a big, underlying problem: your posting platform stinks! I was never fully happy with expensive platforms like Hootsuite, Later and Post Planner so I decided to build my own - the platform of my dreams! Now I’m offering it to my music colleagues and clients who also feel the pain of paying WAY too much for time-saving tools that don’t stink. Let me know if you want details by hitting Reply..
