Escape the Content Hamster Wheel - Part 6, Why Posting Feels Hard

September 06, 2026•2 min read

😖Why posting feels harder than it should

Most people don't need more content.

Imagine yourself spending good money on a brand new dishwasher... then tossing all your dirty dishes into one giant pile on the kitchen floor🍽️

Sounds a little silly, right?

Well...that's exactly what many musicians and authors do with their marketing.

Last time we talked about automating your content. It's wonderful. Your emails can send themselves, your follow-ups can happen automatically, and your fans can get the right social media post at the right time. But there's one problem.

Somebody still has to load the dishwasher.

If all your photos, videos, lyrics, stories, concert clips, book excerpts, testimonials, and ideas are scattered across your phone, computer, cloud storage, and sticky notes, automation can only do so much.

That's why I recommend organizing your stuff in five simple content buckets:

🎵 Your work: Songs, books, merch, and products

📖 Your story: The experiences that shaped you and your art

⚙️ Your processes: Recording sessions, writing days, rehearsals, editing, and behind-the-scenes moments

💬 Your fans: Reviews, comments, testimonials, concert photos, fan messages, and success stories

💜 Your beliefs: The causes you support, lessons you've learned, and the values that make you...you.

Now imagine opening one folder instead of digging through hundreds of random files. Suddenly creating social posts, emails, blog articles, and automated campaigns becomes so much easier because you've already organized the ingredients.

Most creators think they need more content. What they really need is a better pantry.

If your marketing still feels chaotic after this series, don't beat yourself up. Building systems like these takes practice, and it's easy to overlook opportunities when you're wearing every hat in your business. I'd love to help you organize your content and build a marketing system that's designed specifically for you during a Success Session. Email me today to book yours.

🐹 In the next installment of Escape the Content Hamster Wheel, I'll show you why every song, chapter, or product deserves more than one chance to shine...and how to keep your best stuff working for years.

Until then, always aspire to be better, my friend!
