Your Closet and Clutter Clean-Out Checklist for Emails

Be honest with me. When you write a newsletter to your fans, does it resemble a closet stuffed with clothes, shoeboxes, cables, and random gear? It’s ok, it happens to the best of us sometimes.

Creative minds collect ideas fast, and suddenly every email tries to wear three coats while juggling a gym bag and a tangle of cords. When everything stays in, nothing stands out…or sometimes it all FALLS out😅

So c’mon, roll up your sleeves with me and let’s do a gentle closet clean-out so your best email shines and your readers know exactly what to click

✅ Keep the essentials: One Hook, one Story, one CTA. The one outfit plus one essential you will actually use this week.

✅ Donate: Extra updates and side quests. Save them for future emails so each message breathes.

✅ Trash: Filler words, duplicate links, heavy templates, and broken widgets that slow everything down.

✅ Label your favorite: Use your subject line as the tag. Tease curiosity without telling the whole story in the subject or preview text.

✅ Shelves and drawers: Your preview text completes the tease. Pro tip: For the love of Pete, don’t use a shortcut to add the recipient’s name to your subject or preview text ‘From name’ is a real human, not a brand robot.

✅ Fit check: Tell your story in 3 paragraphs, maybe 5 depending on your audience. Two images max, one link in the story, one button for the CTA.

✅ Travel-ready: Make sure it’s mobile-first design with big text, big buttons, & generous white space.

✅ Ritual: Send your emails weekly or biweekly. Same day and time builds trust more than chasing magic hours.

Why most people get stuck?

✅ The creative pile-up is real, so you cram everything into one send and bury the signal.

✅ The CTA gets lost under layers of updates, so readers miss the one thing you wanted them to do.

✅ Subject lines explain instead of tease, so the curiosity spark never lights.

✅ Templates look pretty on desktop but feel heavy on a phone, so people bail early.

Two simple ways I can help you get more opens and clicks

Option 1: Success Session

I'll review your last two emails live, co-write some strong subject lines with matching preheaders, trim one story to 3-5 crisp paragraphs, and craft a single high-converting CTA with button copy. You’ll leave with a reusable 15-minute checklist and a simple template you can use to send next week's email with confidence, and every week after that.

Option 2: Done-for-you

I'll set up a clean, mobile-friendly template, write your next two newsletters using Hook, Story, CTA, create subject lines with matching preheaders, and wire in your buttons and links so clicks are easy to track. Perfect if you have too many other things on your plate right now, or if tech stuff like this isn’t your happy place, I’ve got you covered😎

Let me know which option you want.

PS: On a side note, some newsletter emails have a big, underlying problem: your platform stinks! I was never fully happy with platforms like Drip, Wordpress and Shopify so I decided to build my own - the platform of my dreams🤩 Now I’m offering it to my clients who also feel the pain of paying WAY too much for essential tools that don’t stink. Let me know if you want details.

Take care, and always...aspire to be better, my friend!
